Today, the KETV News at 5:00 featured one of the strangest video clips I’ve ever seen.
In an attempt to cater to their 12-year-old demographic, KETV News decided to humanize (or cartoonize) the smoking ban bill.
It seems the villain in this cartoon is Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey. Mayor Fahey makes Mr. Smoking Ban very, very unhappy. Mr. Smoking Ban then pleads with City Council to help him out. Finally, Mr. Smoking Ban is saved by petitions.

I know for a fact this was not planned by the KETV news department. minutes after this clip aired new policies were in place to prevent clips like this from slipping past the producers and news directors
seriously.. how is one expected to make a standard format animation around a few loose facts on smoking bans? i thought how a smoking ban becomes a law was a much better way of explaining things - after all don’t we dumb the product down to a 4th grade level?
