I have something to confess – I’ve been thinking of switching parties lately, or at least voting Republican in the coming Senatorial election. I know what you’re thinking, but honestly, the charisma and (pseudo-)enthusiasm of Mike Johanns has me hooked. Check out Johanns’ latest video:

Powerful stuff. He might be a career politician who’s quit every elected position he’s ever had mid-term to further his own power (including his latest stint as Secretary of Agriculture – when the latest farm bill was pending in Congress), but that video has effectively allayed any doubts I had about his integrity. See, he took Nebraska with him. Notice to Barack Obama – your 2004 address to the DNC has officially been pwn3d. As a Democrat though, I needed more convincing, and this one sealed the deal.

Wow, Johanns undertook the effort and expense to cut an entire video of him patting himself on the back for hiring someone to build his campaign a webpage. That’s literally unbelievable. It really shows the type of competent leadership Nebraskans can expect from Johanns in Washington. And in case you were worried, Johanns won’t stop with traditional methods of campaigning. I can’t say I’ve ever been to one of Mike Johanns’ rallies, but if they’re even a fraction of as exciting as his website, I know I’m relieved. One note to former Secretary Mike though - I know all political candidates try to contrive some story of personal suffering and hardship, but if yours involves the purchase of a color TV (unless said TV caused some sort of illness or debilitating injury – maybe that’s in the next video), just skip the bit about your trials and tribulations. Hey, while we’re on the subject, since Johanns has set the bar so low, if Ben Nelson doesn’t already have one, he could use the story of how he had to endure Pete Ricketts’ joke of an attack ad in 2006:
