For Kyle (from Google):
Definitions of rationalization on the Web:
(psych.) - Defense mechanism. Justification: creating elaborate explanations for one’s own behaviour which only appear logical to oneself. Allows a person to escape anxiety over their actions, yet continue with the behaviour.

Dave-

If you think our award was based on Jon Bruning changing his party affiliation from "Democrat" to "Republican," we were clearly giving out different awards.

This isn't about labels. It's about ideas. If he seeks the Democratic nomination, there might be a time to stand up against Raimondo, but it isn't before he's even had a chance to open his mouth.

Course it wasn't. It was about him abandoning all of his principles. But one of those principles just happened to be his allegiance to the Demcoratic Party.

You're absolutely right that it has to be about ideas, not labels. But if a party affiliation is just something that can be switched because a person doesn't think they can win - well, it becomes just a label to be switched due to mere political convenience.

Tony Raimondo's ideas haven't changed. And he's been talking for 9 months about running... as a Republican.

He's damn sure had his chance to explain himself.

Dave -
Thanks for keeping it real. There is no excuse for YD's (at least YD's with any sense of conviction) supporting Raimondo. This is the EXACT type of behavior that we need to stand up against. Raimondo is NOT a Democrat. Raimondo is a self-serving politician who will further mark the non-existence of the Nebraska Democratic Party. I would rather lose by fighting for my convictions than win like this. STAND UP Nebraska Democrats! Do not let Achepohl and the rest of the state party convince you that Raimondo is a Democrat. Nebraska Democrats, and Young Democrats, are better than this. This is insulting...
