H.R. 2, the Fair Minimum Wage Act, passed the Senate today, by a vote of 94-3. Because of amendments that included tax cuts for businesses, the bill will go to a conference committee before a final vote to send the bill to the President’s desk. But given the overwhelming majorities by which both houses passed this bill, it’s fairly certain that Bush will have no choice but to sign the minimum wage bill into law. A major victory for America’s working class and the Democratic Party.
