At Saturday’s Forever Young Dinner, the UNO College Democrats were awarded Nebraska Young Democrats 2006 Chapter of the Year. From protesting Bush again, to Yellow Dog University, volunteering thousands of hours for candidates, or paying tribute to the fallen, we have been the most active group on campus and the most active chapter of Nebraska Young Democrats. We’ve been kicking ass for three years now, and it’s because of each and every person in this group. The semester is almost over, but we’ll be back in January and better than ever. We’re just getting started!
Congratulations to UNO Dems! As a UNO Student Democrat Alum, I am proud of and impressed with your many recent efforts. Also, I would like to call your attention to upcoming event that should be a notice to you:
The UNO Latino Studies group is having a candlelight vigil this Sunday Dec. 17th at 4:00 at the Milo Bail Student Center 2nd Floor for all the families separated by our broken immigration system. Please try to attend & spread the word. Thanks! Tim

Also, we wouldn’t have won this award if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of all our members. UNO College Dems rock my world and I wouldn’t be surprised if we won Chapter of the year…. every year for a long time! Keep up the hard work, and I guaruntee next semester will yet again be amazing!

And I agree Karlee, one of the most amazing things about UNO Dems is how it is so much more than any one or two or even three or four of us. Just listing the names of those who put more than 10 hours a week every week into this organization would probably go 10-15 people deep. And then you add in that a lot of those 10-15 are putting in 20-30 hours / week. And then you add in the 20-30 more members who put in 3-5 hours every week without fail. And then the 25-50 more who attend meetings when they have time, and show up to events on campus, and the 50-100 more students on our email list who show up when they can and the 200-500 more on the email list and facebook who help spread the word…
UNO Dems isn’t just the NYD Chapter of the Year, I can’t wait until we apply for UNO Student Organization of the Year, we deserve that one too.
Great work everyone and congrats Dave! Sorry I couldn’t make it to the dinner. I agree that the UNO Studnet Organization of the Year is in order. What other organization has as loud of a voice as we do and does as much as we do? Like us or hate us, we get things done. All we need to do is continue the outstanding work we have done and prove to UNO that we deserve it.
