Even Republicans in my classes thought this was a terrible ad. Ricketts decided to go negative early and can't find a message that connects with voters. In the end, his campaign is simply about being a Republican - and that's not enough to convince people to vote against Ben Nelson.

I've seen a lot of these, but a few of them I haven't. When I saw the one labeled "Pete's Mom," I felt my brain cells screaming out in unison. "Don't tell me he played the MOM CARD," I said to myself with desperate hope, already knowing that it could be little else... And then there she was. He brought his mom on. I swear I wanted to gag and vomit at the same time! What a shameless exploit. "Hi, I'm Pete Ricketts, and I have a mommy! Aren't I so adorable? Vote for me!" Ugh.

The thing that bothers me most about Pete's commericals is when he says vote for conservative change. What does that even mean? Pete can just keep pumping more of his own cash into worthless tv ads. All he has to do is fire a thousand employees to pick up a hefty bonus anyway right?

I wondered if I was the only one who noticed how inane that slogan is. "Conservative change" is a contradiction in terms on par with "tolerant homophobe" or "square circle."
