Many of you know that a story about me appeared in the Lincoln Journal Star this weekend. It wasn’t really about me but about something I did.
I want to commend Nate Jenkins of the Lincoln Journal-Star for writing a good article. I declined to comment in his article and the article by the Associated Press. Eventually, I will give some of my thoughts on the whole situation. Actually, I’m holding out for a call from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I’m willing to grant them an exclusive interview on this subject.
So, why exactly did I make a post about this? Well, this is your opportunity to express your opinions on the matter.

This is a very funny article by Ed Howard of the Nebraska State Paper. I think his point of view sums up this entire situation very well.
The Democratic Party and their supporters are always thinking of new ways to bash a candidate in someway. They don’t represent their party very well. I would have a lot more respect for them and their party if they weren’t always trying to do a sly tactic to try to make the Republicans look bad. I have no problem with people who disagree with the Republicans, but if they disagreed by presenting facts in a professional and honest way maybe more people would take them more seriously and they would actually get more of their candidates into office. This time they had to lower themselves to a new low by buying campaign web addresses. Don’t they have better things to do? I guess not!
Get with it Democrats and show some class!

Well, if Ryan disagreed with Tony he can know post all the things his doesn’t like about T.O. at www.tonyojeda.com. Simple for people to remember and easy to find. Makes it much easier for Ryan to get his views publicized.
Once again we see the deterioration and distancing of real ethics with that of political ethics. Just because someone has the right (legal or otherwise) to do something, does not mean that person should do that thing.
This practice from either side is a negative ploy. Lip service can be given to the idea that one side can pose their own views on a person by using a doman that implies it is supported by that person, but the truth is the tactic is simply to prevent the otherside from having the domain, and possibly misleading those who search out information on that candidate.
It doesn’t matter if its done in politics, business or personal use, it is unethical to assume the identity of a person you are not affiliated with.

If you serioulsy think that what Ryan did does not conform to the standards of the current political atmosphere, then you need a serious reality check. You’re from the same party who destroyed John McCain a few years back by telling all of the open-minded Republicans down south that he had a black baby. I don’t think that the Republicans can even mention integrity in political campaigns until they demonstrate a bit of it themselves. Additionally, there were several Republicans who mentioned that people from both sides do what Ryan did, so saying that it’s a ‘great shananigan’ is giving Ryan a bit too much credit. And finally, if it really is such a big deal as you make it seem, then I propose that your party is in a bit more trouble than you think. I can see the headlines already “Mild-Mannered West Point Alum Brings Down GOP”.
Congrats Ryan on yet another fine job.

Cody to buy out another persons campaign website is wrong. Republican or Democrat. I would and will say the same thing if a republican does it from cr’s. Bottom line is it’s wrong and should not be done. Don’t come back here with what republicans have done in the past and act like you are all high and mighty. Democrats have done just as much wrong things as republicans have done. I however am not one of those republicans who think that we as a party need to win by sneaky tricks and shananigans. Yet again you continue to embarrass and shame the only democrat in your state that is elected to NE delegation. There is a reason you do not win in this state you might want to explore some of those reasons. If you read in my above comments I give you a reason. Your views maybe popular in the university setting but there is a reason why John Kerry only won one county in Nebraska. And Connealy, Thompson and whoever was out in the 3rd district running against T.O. lost. And the same in 06 and in 08 etc. Start being smart and maybe you could make a difference in democratic politics in Nebraska I doubt it but maybe if you play your cards right and think how politics work out side your university you might help a democrat get elected Nebraska. On the other hand nah don’t listen to me keep on coming back with your pathetic excuses and keep getting beat year after year after year. Sounds good to me. Alright lets here the excuses form the democrats fly back at me. This should be good.

Ya snooze, ya lose. Congratulations Ryan for being on the ball. Again, I’d offer to let Ojeda buy it back for a VERY hefty campaign donation to Hillary Clinton.
I agree with Cody, and he just gave one example of the dirty tricks they have used. I don’t see how anyone can take an honest look at the Republican party and not see how underhanded and dishonest everything they do has and will continue to be. I can’t wait to see what they do to each other during their primaries in 2006. That will be nothing compared to buying a few websites.
I am sorry, I think you should have taken the higher road. Tactics like this only makes the idiots on the right to justify their beliefs. And it certainly does not help in bringing others into a central mix. Name calling, childish tactics only makes people continue to hate the political forum. Sad.
This just shows us how low the Democrats do go.

By the way, I disagree with the tactic inspiring this thread. We can do better. The fact that we even strive to do better is what separates us from the Joe-like Republicans of the world, who in this instance resemble drunken buffoons laughing at a member of AA who’s fallen off the wagon but at least has the courage to try.
George Bush’s campaign bought sites with the name kerry and edwards. In fact, before edwards was announced as the vp candidate, every possible combination of “john” “kerry” “gephardt” “dick” “04″ and “2004″ was owened by the bush campaign. That’s a lot of names, like 36 sites!
And Kerry did the same to bush, but had less of a chance to because the Bush camp had bought most of them way before ‘04.
It’s a thing political campaigns do against each other, it’s harmless and it’s pretty funny. Good job Ryan, way to make a big splash.

A couple godaddy’s, most were error site does not exist, a book seller, a couple info sites. www.kerryedwards.com gave an e-mail address. Absolutely nothing remotely Republican or anti Kerry.
I also serched on Google for anything remotely close to “bush buys website” “republicans buy website” and found nothing on the subject.
If you would like to come back with documents on your claim, like an article from a newspaper or something like that, it would be really cool. I’d prefer something other than the ultra left salon.com type stuff, but if that is all you have, its alright.

Shrinky Dink et al: I love that site. Perhaps the reason you don’t is because it’s hittin a little too close to home. Your leader is failing (again.) You can be as smug as you want. Think our response would be different if we weren’t talking poor and overwhelmingly black? Think it’d be different if we were talking about 80% of Palm Beach under water? I guess Rumsfield doesn’t know anything about disaster relief and your “leader” isn’t getting his required instruction.
And by the way regarding Jesus was a pinko commie. Sorry this humor was waaaay over your head. It’s called satire - humor based on truth. Jesus’ teachings question war and senseless killing and I can assure you that someone would be painting his Christian philosophy as communist and posing the question, “Jesus: Why do you hate America?” Satire is tough for concrete thinkers to wrap their brains around.
