New School Year Approaching

The new school year is less than a week away. Unfortunately, that means classes will resume but that also means the College Democrats will be in full force.

For College Democrats, the last school year was incredible. In less than a year, we’ve grown to become the largest political group on campus. During the presidential election in ‘04 and the city election in ‘05, the College Democrats spent thousands of hours volunteering on political campaigns. Not only did we volunteer in Nebraska, but members of our group spent time volunteering in Missouri, South Dakota, and Iowa. We also sold more than a thousand political buttons on campus. We worked hard but we also had a lot of fun.

I have no doubt that we can continue this momentum and make College Democrats even better. With a little bit of work, this organization can become the largest (and best) student organization on campus.

During the first few days of school (August 22-24 from 10:30-1:00 pm), we will have a table in the Milo Bail Student Center. If you aren’t a member of College Democrats and would like additional information about our group, please stop by and say hello. We will also have a table at the Clubs and Organizations Fair (August 25th from 11-1 pm).

Our first meeting of the Fall Semester will be Monday, August 22nd at 8 pm in the Milo Bail Student Center (Gallery Room).

I hope to see all of you at our first meeting! If you have comments or suggestions about this upcoming year, please post them in the comments section.
