The problem with the Nebraska Democratic Party is they have no one anyone is willing to vote for.

In the three races where there is no Republican firmly entrenched, Senate, 3rd District, Governor, there are 11 candidates, most of them strong candidates.

In the four races where there is no incumbant Democrat, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Districts, Governor, there are a grand total of 0.

Scott Kleeb in C.D. 3, Jim Esch in C.D. 2, that is all I got for now, but I can assure you that the rest of your concerns will be answered within the next couple of weeks. The Democrats are united. Republicans are divided and this type of thinking has lead Nebraska in the wrong direction. In 2004, under Republican leadership, Nebraska was 50th, dead last, in economic development. Nebraska Democrats-We Can Do Better.

I grew up in Nebraska City and must say I'm ashamed to say I came from the same town as this creep. His commercials make me want to throw up! The sweetness oozing out of my TV when these things come one make me sick. How about some real people in the senate who could make a real difference not the same old, same old that keeps getting elected. Don't think it is working when our country is in the mess that it is in. We keep hearing from the right about the "Gay Agenda". What I am really sick of having shoved down my throat is the Christian Agenda and Conservative Agenda. Hey guys I don't want your beliefs forced upon my children. News flash Christianity is the majority in the world!!!!

Sen Nelson´s strategy is to paint Ricketts as the candidate of Wall Street, Nelson, of course, being the candidate of Main Street.. Rickett´s ads contain some platitudes, but this strategy of Nelson´s is just hackneyed old nonsense. The highly paid consultents on both sides think platitudes and old bromides win. Maybe they do. You guys are sophisticated politically and see through all this nonsense, but the average voter probably doesn´t.

I know Ricketts has an extremely experienced campaign manager, some 14 campaigns, won most. He charges a lot, I know. Pete is paying top dollar I hear for workers. It´s going to be a big fight, possibly for control of the Senate. I think Sen. Nelson is running scared for good reason . Ricketts is a formidable candidate with the money to get his message out, probably will even outspend Nelson. Keep your powder dry.

Ricketts is a nobody in a field full of nobodies. In a side-by-side comparison of their policy positions, there is nothing of substance that Pete Ricketts has to offer the voters of Nebraska. His campaign message boils down to a bunch of cliched ads that insult the intelligence of the average Nebraskan. Pete Ricketts is not a Nebraska City farm boy, and Ben Nelson is making sure people know that every day. Republicans are dishonest with the American public on a daily basis, and Ricketts is no exception to that rule.

It's not by accident that Ben Nelson is the most popular Senator in the country. I disagree with him on a lot of issues, but he connects with a lot of Nebraskans.

I hope all of you compassionate, enlightened Young Democrats are solidly behind Ben Nelson's anti-drug stance, and his position on "strengthening our border" (i.e. keep THOSE people out). And by the way, was that a blue-jean jacket I saw millionaire Ben wearing in his latest ad? I sure didn't see his limo or the mansion he lives in!!! Goodnes sakes.

If Pete Ricketts stands for nothing, then please explain what Ben stands for? I know what his supporters stand for, but then how do you endorse someone who does not? Oh yea, Ben is a Democrat, and that's as deep as your crack research team can dig.

The problem is, most people vote for the "party" not the person or the issues. Pete's a Republican and that is all that matters to some people.

In this Senate election, I wish there was another choice besides the two. Perhaps a Green Party candidate.

Pete makes me sick!

Dave Sund said:

We could start the rebuttal by talking about shamelessly using celebrities to grossly misrepresent the stem cell research issue. We could talk about using a pathetic civilian or a senile senator to grossly misrepresent the war..to trash our soldiers..Or traditionally, with the aid of your friends at CNN/Al-Jazeera-USA, the New York/ Al-Queda Times, or the moe, larry, and curly networks the timely "discovery" of scandals from years ago to try to influence national elections...or as was the case in the last national election...when there isn't a scandal...Dan Rather will joyously fabricate one for you.

Spare us the dishonesty, Dave.

Ben Nelson is a decent man and an excellent Senator. Pete Ricketts is a decent man, and someone I was wishing was running against Democrat Chuck Hagel, who is frightening like his mentor, the bastion of dishonesty and grandstanding, Bob Kerrey.

I hate these mudslinging commercials. They accomplish nothing.

Iowa plowboy -

"Democrat" Chuck Hagel is in fact the leader of the Nebraska Republican Party. It was his endorsement that gave Dave Heineman the legitimacy to beat Tom Osborne. And it's Hagel's political pros who are running the Nebraska GOP and the Ricketts campaign.

Hagel, John McCain's lapdog, is the leader of the Nebraska Republican according to who? If it's Hagel's "pros" running the campaign, that would explain all the negative ads. I don't know that I'd want his endorsement if I was Pete.

I notice, Dave, you had no response to the media's manipulation of national elections....hmm.....

Dishonesty, anyone?

I don't respond to right-wing talking points with no basis in fact. Frankly, comparing the New York Times to Al-Qaeda (spelling it correctly may help, as well) is so dishonest and beneath even the lowest Republican that I won't dignify it with a response.

I won't even begin to explain to you why, exactly, the "liberal media" is a myth. Or why your response ignores the issue at hand. I'm talking about how dishonest Republicans are, and you are blaming the media! More dishonesty. The media long ago, in an effort to be "impartial," decided to stop checking facts. They hired pundits to give "both sides" of a complicated issue. They came up with shows like "Crossfire," and "Hardball," that were devoted to the short attention-span, sound-byte brand of politics that is ripping America apart. So, I'll share your disgust for the media, for different reasons. If you think I believe everything I see on CNN, you're badly mistaken.

Chuck Hagel is, in fact, the leader of the Nebraska Republican Party. You are simply a troll on a blog. If the right wing of the Republican Party wants to change it, by all means, please do. Bring your party further to the right, and we'll be the moderate, reasonable choice.

Nevertheless, you failed to answer the question of your own party's continued dishonesty. If Chuck Hagel is your leader, he's a very good example - going on television and saying something resembling the truth on Sunday - only to sacrifice his principles for party lines on the Senate floor. Typically, you decided to turn the question on my party, but failed to rebut the very plain and simple truth that has come out in this election: Pete Ricketts, like most Republicans, is a liar.

The New York/Al-Queda (spelling by design, Dave) Times, in spite of the request of the administration conducting the war, treasonously released techniques we use to track our enemies. Another of your friends, Ted Turner, recently said he couldn't decide if we, or Al-Queda is the actual enemy. I guess, the New York/Al-Queda Times, and CNN/Al-Jazeera-USA, imbedded with our enemy and celebrating the death and assination of our soldiers and can't figure it out either. If you think Crossfire or (especially) Hardball give a fair accessment of anything, I don't know that there's a diplomatic word to describe your intellect, Dave. When a network fabricates a story or "discovers" scandals 3-30 years old weeks before an election to try to manipulate it...always on one political party's side, you can't intellectually call them objective or honest....or maybe some leftist blog can....

First of all, you called Pete Ricketts a liar....please specify about what. While I would vote for Senator Nelson if I could, Mr Ricketts must be pretty formidable if Senator Nelson's campaign has to spend this much to win. As we've found out with other "nobodys" (as you called Mr Ricketts), who pour tons of money into a campaign, generally make little traction against a strong incumbent.
Just saying...... I wouldn't be dissappointed to see either elected...I'd rather see both in the Senate than either and Hagel.

You also called Republicans dishonest....but don't site specifics. I know it's easy to say the President "lied"...if he did, your entire party lied about the same thing. Who else? When? I don't have enough time to go through your sacred Kerrey's dishonesty, or Kerry's, and none of us have time to go through your treasonous Bill and Hillary Clinton's or your more treasonous President Carter's (although we could give him and Murtha a pass based on senility...and ignorance)

I don’t have enough time to go through your sacred Kerrey’s dishonesty, or Kerry’s, and none of us have time to go through your treasonous Bill and Hillary Clinton’s or your more treasonous President Carter’s (although we could give him and Murtha a pass based on senility…and ignorance)

The New York Times repeated administration talking points on the war in Iraq and contributed to the outing of a covert CIA operative as political payback for criticizing the war. Judith Miller, a Times reporter, refused to reveal the administration traitor who outed Plame for purely political reasons, and was sent to jail. If you read what I said about Crossfire and Hardball, then you'll realize that I said they were toxic. And those shows are all too typical of the crap you see on cable news anymore.

The media doesn't have to "create" any scandals, though. Your party seems more than willing to give them real ones to work with.

That traitor would be Charles Schummer....the reason why she refused to disclose it. Judith would have been doing cartwheels on her way to anybody if it'b been a Republican.

But the Clinton Broadcasting Station seems very willing to create scandals nonetheless. How much time and effort have they, CNN/Al-Jazeera-USA, the New York/Al-Queda Times or the moe, and larry networks given to your Senate Minority Leaders land deal..(which was discovered at the same time)..not to mention his illegal use of campaign money...compared to the traditional manipulation given to the Mark Foley scandal? The above "balanced" "news" reporting media coordinated with Reid's people to "report" a new "truth" concerning Reid's affairs, while relentlessly trying to find anybody to pin the blame on the Speaker for Foley's acts. Like I said, Dave, you've either been brainwashed by socialist teachers and professors or you are intellectually bankrupt to think that any of the above media are acting remotely neutral.

Crossfire and Hardball are all too typical of the crap...where do you find your crap??....because that, apparently, is all you have, Dave.

Still waiting for the Ricketts lies....or the Republican scandals you're talking about.
