Democrats have fought for expanded healthcare, more benifits for veterans, workers rights, economic fairness, tolerance, women's rights ect. I believe that the upper class that John Edwards refers to, the upper class which is predominanly republican, have never had to go out and make an honest days living. And for Biden; He is part of the Washington establishment that is out of sinc with the base of the democratic party. Joe Biden voted for NAFTA, which has resulted in the loss of more than 900,000 manufacturing jobs. Those people that are losing their jobs becuase of the trade policies endorsed by Joe Biden, are the base of the democratic party. Joe Biden, while a mostly honest and genuine man, needs to realize that the Democratic party is the party of the working man and women and not the party of rich trial lawyers.
