When I was in HS, we had a sit in to protest the expulsion of a student for streaking at a football game. Nevermind the fact that he was a 3rd year Senior, and had been suspended like 5 times.... we were activists!

That being said, I have to work Thurs. I wish I could join you all.

Good luck!

I will be there after class on Thursday, for a while. Who wants to join me? We can bring music and snacks!! Anyways I think we should tak e a position on this issue, because they want to fire two great and outspoken feminist teachers from the university. I mean after all we are Democrats we do believe in women's rights and wish to keep letting outspoken feminist educate others.

I figure I should say something about this.

Umm. I'm, until further notice going to remain neutral on the subject of what (if anything) unodems should do. I need to do this 1) because I'm not going to ask my friends and people I respect to take on a cause for my family 2)because it would look bad if the stories started being "and her son organized some friends to do a sitin," especially since I've never met all but like 2 people in that photo.

I am, though, going to send personalized letters to each and every person on that list on behalf of Caroline Simpson. She is an awesome teacher, and I can't tell you how many people are pissed off over in the fine arts building.

If anyone does want to do something big, I think letters to each and every person are the most effective. It takes a while to write out an email/letter to each person, but even short ones go a long way. Letters to the public pulse will probably also be important because, from what little I've heard, some of the administration people who have been behind a lot of this have already written a ton and are having people sign them.

Lastly: if any member or reader of this blog has even the slightest reservation about our group caring about this issue please please please voice it. Since I'm not even sure if our group should take a stand on this at all, obviously I'm not going to have any bad feelings or anything like that. We do, after all, have a serious election to be working on, not to mention all the other things we talked about at our last meeting.

...
Oh. And everyone should remember the Gary Gernandt volunteering on Saturday night. People who attend the St. Patty's day parade for Anne Boyle earlier in the day will get some free fliers that night too.
