Today, Presidents Day, is a good time to look back at what has made past presidents well-loved, and will make future ones successful. In today’s World-Herald online poll 60% of Nebraskans said that the “best president in history” was a liberal.
With Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, and Clinton all coming in the top 5, it was easy to see how liberalism has helped our nation move forward in the face of adversity.

(Here’s a real link to the great 4 for anyone doing a trackback.)
Two national polls released today indicated that most Americans agree with Nebraskan’s assessment of Presidential Greatness.
In CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll :
20 percent of those polled chose Lincoln. Reagan was picked by 15 percent, Franklin Roosevelt by 12 percent, John Kennedy by 11 percent, Bill Clinton by 10 percent and George W. Bush by 8 percent. Washington was picked by 6 percent.
In the OWH only 22% picked conservatives (like Reagan or GWB), 10% picked self-described moderates (George Washington) and 7% had no opinion or were unsure, as of 4:30pm.
The link to the poll doesn’t work….sad. If anyone reads this before the meeting and can find the poll on OWH post it. I’m at work and need something to do..haha.
Thanks! Lets post who we think the best president is. I’ll go first…Dubya. JUST KIDDING!!!!!!
Rutherford B. Hayes is our greatest president…EVER.
So there are people out there who really belive that “Dubya” is your greatest president ever? Thats just terrifying in itself.
I’m curious what the statistical corrilation between people who belive that and people who ate crayons as a meal as childern is.
I enjoyed Warren G. Harding
I am curious as well to the correlation between crayon eating and favoring George W. Bush as the greatest leader of the greatest country of all time. It seems to me awefully pesimistic to believe that George W. Bush is the best that we as Americans could produce as a president in over 200 years of history. To me, it is unpatriotic to talk so lowly of America. I, as a proud Democrat and American, am optimistic that our Nation can and has produced better leaders than George W. Bush.
I, also as a proud Democrat and American, am optimistic that our Nation can and has produced better janitors than George W. Bush.
I think what we really should take from this poll is that people are a lot more liberal than they think. We need to educate people on what the party stands for and why it is in their best interest to vote for us. Many who voted this fall said that that message was lost on them and now many are seeing the so called values of this administration manifested in its’ budget.
We need to remind people that all of the greatest iniatives and benefits that they take for granted were made posssible by our party.
In psychology they say there is not such thing as a perfect correlation, but I think there may be an exception for this one. I believe there is a +1.00 correlation between crayon(and possibly paint chip) eaters and people who think Dubya is the greatest president ever. I mean maybe if one thinks that a 2 trillion dollar deficeit and a war, possibly 2 wars, and the worst homeland security failure ever and poor intelligence, defines a great president then i guess W. fits right in.
