More free publicity (and some deception)

It looks like our buttons are getting more attention.

We received a free plug by the right-wing Gateway columnist Matthew Lytle. We are not surprised by the free publicity, and we are not surprised that Mr. Lytle distorted the facts.

Here we are, ladies and gentlemen. It’s Election Night. (It’s about time.) But, I feel there’s something that I’ve got to say, and it’s about the Democrats. Over the past few months, I’ve seen some of the worst things come out of that party, and I think I’d better bring them to light.

Anyway, to start off, I was in my Intro to Black Studies course, when I saw on this guy’s bag a “F*** Bush” button, next to a Kerry/Edwards button. I think I heard somewhere that the College Democrats group actually gave out these buttons. Is this how low they’ve sunk? To the point where they start handing out buttons like that? You’ve got to be kidding.

Here is a link to the full column.

Mr. Lytle, if you are going to write a column about an organization you hate, at least get the facts straight. Don’t rely on something you heard.

The College Democrats are responsible for the buttons on campus. The buttons were sold in the Student Center and around campus for $1. We did not give the buttons away. It may come to a shock to Mr. Lytle that people on campus don’t like President Bush. It is not surprising that college students were willingly to spend a dollar to express their feelings. People came to us to buy the buttons (we didn’t go out and find them or give them to people).

Mr. Lytle we are tickled when you write about our organization, but make sure you get your facts straight. When you decide to write about us again, please send us an email, we would be happy to comment and enlighten you.

No sense of humor have these GOP members, who are not so grand, act older than they are and wouldn’t know a party if they were pushed into one.

What does Lytle even stand for?
This is what I picked up-
    1. He HATES pb and j eaters
    2. Al Gore Lost the election in 2000
    3. He thinks Mr. Gore would make all the same decisions bush
    4. He laughed at Fahrenheit 9/11 and the down fall of our country
    5. He actually believes that the 600 dollars my father received in the mail was a good addition to the pink slip he received in September.
    6. Completely out of touch with the ways to spur the economy (you can’t use Adam smith as a role model and at the same time increase government spending like Regan. Who the hell is going to pay the bills? That is right, us, and they will be way more pricy than $600.00
    7. The last time a Democrat was in office and decided to go to war (don’t forget Vietnam was police action)…it was wwII, but you are right that was completely one-sided. On this war tangent lets talk about Pres. Wilson and the league of nations. The US didn’t get to join it because the Republicans felt that they did have their names on the paper. That piece of paper could have stopped WWII before Millions died.
    8. The last thing i picked up from this guy is that he sat in his Dark room by himself writing this and cheering himself on the whole way.

This guy will never get a professional job writing.

Well I’m glad this guy shared a nice story about a Wendy’s visit and tried to degrade former Presidential candidate John Kerry. I couldn’t belive that story if somebody paid me to. I know that these college republicans don’t have very many points on which they can attack Kerry; let’s see there is the “flip flopper” thingy, oh and the, “Kerry is a fairy” line they like to shout out, and one loser even put it on his t-shirt, but the Wendy’s story is just stretching it too far. Now I would like to take my time and share a true Wendy’s story about John Edwards, who along with John Kerry was a candidate for the American people. John Edwards took his wife Elizabeth to Wendy’s on their first date. He also gave her an $11 engagement, ring, which she still wears. Oh and every year for their anniversary they go to Wendy’s, and I think they know what to order there. I am dying to commet more on other issues brought up in the article but this guy just isn’t worth it.

rock on amanda. I had some free time sitting at a computer when I read it, and then I just started ranting. So I wrote the dumb columnist a message in the gateway resonse section just for my own therapy. And then I bothered to look up ACTUAL studies done by nonpartisan groups that said the OPPOSITE of what he said without finding a single one of his “oh I can’t be bothered to go look it up right now, but trust me it’s there” sources.

what a sad sad little man.

Ha! Ha! Ha! (Extend this for about 3 hours.)

Oh, man. Daniel. Do you even know me, or do you just classify me with everyone else you don’t like.

First off, I actually like PB & j sandwiches myself, thank you. I also like a good double cheeseburger. I just found it funny.

Second, do I actually know how Al Gore would have acted in 9/11? No. I’m not a mind reader.

Third, to be quite frank, my parents (I chat with them about once/twice a week) never recieved their $600 check. I think I was referring to the tax cuts on that point. (Oh, and I do feel sorry about your father, David. My father lost his job recently, due to contract negotiations.)

But, and to make this clear, I don’t hate Democrats. Hell, many of the people I know are Democrats. But, I don’t hold it against them, like everyone here does to me. (I probably have my own voodoo doll by now.) We may not agree, but not everything I do concerns politics.

It should figure, though, I may not source every single thing, and I catch flak for it, but when Melanie Williams doesn’t source her points, not a single word.

And trust me, if I wanted to degrade John Kerry, (Which I’d have to be drunk to do, and I’ve been sober for the past 20 years) I would have probably used the same few words this group has used on their buttons to degrade my candidate.

“Other people get away without sourcing their comments” (which you didn’t bother to source) is a really really strong argument. Man, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that one to begin with. I mean, if I had known that INVENTING facts out of THINAIR was ok because other people might or might not have done it before, I never would have criticized you doing it.

Thanks for setting me strait Matt. I’d rather see “fuck kerry” buttons than hear more lies in your next column.

Hey we don’t have a voodoo doll just yet, but Matt just gave us a good idea, I’ll see about getting one for the next meeting. Because isn’t that what we weirdo liberal freaks do, put curses on people?!?
