I really wasn’t planning on posting anything until the new year, but then a frontpage post at Kos caught my eye. This is based on a post at Leavenworth Street, so take it with the necessary grain of salt, but Hagel, in addition to leaning against a run for President in 2008, may not run for Senate either.
So, if it’s true, who’s our best candidate? Mike Fahey? Scott Kleeb? Someone else?

Consider this for a moment:
Just to put things in perspective… with public approval solidly in the 20s, the war in Iraq is now less popular than a bevy of social issues that have long been considered political poison for Democrats. At Saturday’s Forever Young Dinner, the UNO College Democrats were awarded Nebraska Young Democrats 2006 Chapter of the Year. From protesting Bush again, to Yellow Dog University, volunteering thousands of hours for candidates, or paying tribute to the fallen, we have been the most active group on campus and the most active chapter of Nebraska Young Democrats. We’ve been kicking ass for three years now, and it’s because of each and every person in this group. The semester is almost over, but we’ll be back in January and better than ever. We’re just getting started!
We’re all busy with school - finals and papers and other stuff, so things have been kind of slow around here lately. So here’s an open forum to speak your mind.
In the news lately:
Hal Daub is considering a run for Senate in 2008.
Chuck Hagel, who currently holds that seat, is considering a run for President in 2008.
The Iraq Study Group will recommend a gradual withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq, getting most troops out by 2008.
John Bolton will no longer be the U.N. Ambassador for the United States.
Newly elected Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) wanted to “slug” Bush over an insensitive remark about Webb’s son.
